I came across Hodo Soy Beanery organic tofu at Whole Foods this week and decided to give it a shot. I think it may be the best tofu I have had in a long time. This tofu did not come packed in water, so it was very easy to use. I always like to take the extra time to squeeze excess water out of regular supermarket tofu I buy, but in a pinch sometimes that is not an option, and then it doesn’t get that crispy texture on the outside.
Take a look at the picture below of how the tofu cooked up – this was in a simple stir fry done with a small amount of oil. It almost looks like paneer. I think I may be hooked on Hodo and the food geek in me can’t wait to take a factory tour in Oakland!
